To Register A Litter:*
-
A litter application must be submitted with
descriptive information. The FEMALE (dam)
MUST be registered with DRA. The Male (sire) may be
registered with another recognized organization. However this will
result in a lower classification for the puppies than if both
parents are DRA registered. Put DRA name and registration
number(s) and other kennel club sire, dam numbers in correct place
on application. Complete application as best you can & submit
with fee of $40.00 for the whole litter. The DOG REGISTRY OF
AMERICA, Inc. will issue a printed registration application
for each dog in the litter. These have the sex of the puppy on
each application. (example; If the litter had 2 Male and 3 Female
pups you will receive 2 Male applications and 3 Female
applications). When you sell the puppies each purchaser should
receive the application which shows the corresponding correct sex
indicated on form.

Registration and Quality: Many in the public
believe that a dog "with papers" guarantees the quality of a
dog. This is not the case. DRA is a registry service. A registration
certificate identifies the dog as the offspring of a sire and dam,
born on a known date. It does not guarantee the health or quality of
the dog. Quality in the sense of "show quality" is determined by many
factors including appearance, condition, and performance. Show stock
breeders are trying to produce animals to according to a breed
standard. This can lead to breeding practices that are actually
detrimental to the health and temperament of the dogs. When this
occurs repeatedly over several generations, the animals, while still
purebred, can be of extremely low quality
